IT Infrastructure

To streamline service delivery, maximize uptime and performance, and reduce maintenance costs for our customers, Criterion develops, maintains, and matures industry leading solutions, such as:

ISO 20000 Certified Service Delivery Procedures – Criterion’s ISO 20000-1:2011 certified IT Service Management (ITSM) system documents proven service delivery methodologies that drive continuous availability and performance of IT systems, maximizing uptime and applying Knowledge Management (KM) and Problem Management best practices to improve Mean Time to Restore (MTTR) and First Call Resolution (FCR) rates over time.

Virtual Architecture Solutions – Virtualization technologies offer opportunities to lower costs, reduce carbon footprint, and improve COOP/DR capabilities in the event of an outage. Criterion brings extensive experience leveraging these technologies to enable near real-time replication and recovery of data center operations, ensuring that we meet or exceed SLAs for Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) while keeping operating costs low.

360° Monitoring and Rapid Response – Applying top-down and bottom-up monitoring techniques and configuring automated alerts enables our team to rapidly identify and diagnose system/network availability and/or performance issues. Combined with a rapid response capability facilitated through ISO 20000-certified escalation procedures, this enables Criterion to restore full availability/performance within SLAs, so our customers can get back to work faster.

Systems Engineering

Systems engineering plays a critical role in delivering a unified technical environment that eliminates inefficiencies, improves control over system boundaries, and enables seamless integration across multiple domains. To deliver holistic systems engineering support, Criterion brings a comprehensive methodology:

V-Model Methodology – Criterion’s V-Model methodology integrates industry best practices from CMMI for Development Level 3 for process standardization and maturation, ISO 27001 to build security controls and continuous monitoring capabilities into systems from concept to O&M, and ISO 20000 to drive high quality service delivery and continuous improvement over the life of the system. The V-model provides a structured approach to systems engineering activities that can be applied to both integration efforts to create a common set of IT services and systems across the enterprise, as well as infrastructure modernization projects to implement a modern, flexible, secure, and scalable computing environment. This approach provides structured processes encompassing both the technical and non-technical aspects of solving business problems and defining solutions, to include business process reengineering to provide continual alignment and realignment of processes with customer priorities and goals.

CORE CAPABILITIES:

  • Enterprise Architecture and Design
  • IT Infrastructure Engineering
  • Information and Data Management
  • Concept Development
  • Requirements Engineering
  • System Architecture

Application Development

To rapidly organize and deliver custom software applications that fulfill all customer requirements within short time frames and at a lower cost, Criterion incorporates the following features to provide an application development methodology offering unique benefits to our customers:

Software Engineering Center of Excellence (CoE) – Best practices and lessons learned on Criterion’s development contracts are documented, maintained, and disseminated to development teams on other contracts through our Software Engineering CoE. The CoE provides a unique Knowledge Management (KM) function to ensure each of our development teams remains up-to-date with emerging technologies, strategies, and best practices as they are established. This directly benefits customers by ensuring we deliver the most effective, most efficient development support.

CMMI Level 3 Certified Processes – Certification at CMMI Level 3 demonstrates that Criterion brings detailed, mature methodologies to execute application development requirements. At Maturity Level 3, these processes are defined and implemented across our customers’ organizations to drive repeated success and continuous improvement. Processes are designed to promote our customers’ long term strategic objectives and prevent known risks from impacting project outcomes. With processes defined across the organization and aligned to our customers’ strategic goals, CMMI Level 3 appraisal demonstrates our ability to provide reliable service delivery, rapidly organize and respond to emerging requirements, and promote continuous improvement across all projects.

Modern DevOps Approach – Criterion’s DevOps approach drives highly effective collaboration between developers, operations teams, and architecture groups, enabling Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) of software releases. CI/DI provides the fundamental techniques to integrate middleware changes as they become available. By focusing on continuous integration of small changes, rather than integrating a large group of changes, the DevOps approach reduces complexity, makes it easier to walk back a change if needed, and makes it simpler to identify the root cause of integration issues.
