02 Apr Through My Lens: April
Last month, we began publishing a series of photos taken by Criterion’s CEO, Promod Sharma, called Through My Lens. Here is April’s photo, to celebrate warmer weather!
Photo: Sunset State of Mind
Where were you when you took this photo?
On a sunset dinner cruise in Santorini, Greece.
What inspired you to take this photo?
I was always told that the sunset in Santorini was the best sunset you would ever see in your life. It is supposed to put you in a most peaceful state of mind. Most people would probably take a picture of the sunset and move on. However, my eye is different. As I watched the sun set, I noticed a ship passing by and I decided to wait and capture the boat’s placement right next to the sun. Though is seems that the sun, ship, and sunset became one in this photo, they also have a standalone quality, which makes the viewer look at each separately.
When you see this picture, what part of that trip does it remind you of?
When I watched the sun set, I felt an indescribable sense of peace. It is the absolute truth that Santorini’s sunset is the best you will ever see! I hope that when others look at this photo, they will feel the same peace I did.
What camera did you use to take this photo?
I took this picture on an iPhone 11.
Did you use any special filters to enhance the photo?
No. I am not a big fan of filters.
