Please describe your job: What do you do?

I review and edit the variety of documents our team creates for both internal processes and delivery to customers.

What are 5 things you do almost every day?

Coffee and breakfast, reading, cooking, making lists, and exercise.

Do you have a morning ritual? Something you do to start your day?

I walk the dog, have coffee and breakfast, and do some light reading over breakfast before I start anything else. I then begin work by logging into my accounts, checking email, and reviewing lists for daily priorities.

What kind of skills do you need to be effective in your role?

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, self-motivation, and the ability to see projects through to completion.

What do you like best about your job?

I appreciate the variety in the content and working with the smartest group of IT technical experts to ever be concentrated on the same team.

What advice would you give to someone looking to become a technical writer?

If you like technical details; strive for perfect spelling, grammar, and layout; enjoy content variety; and can extract meaningful yet understandable information out of eclectic personalities, give it a try.

What is the craziest/oddest job you have ever had? Something that might surprise your peers.

My first Air Force specialty surprises most people—Aircraft Armament Systems Technician, a.k.a, Bomb Loader. I know my way around a toolbox!
