Wayne Maddock, a Criterion Security Operations Center (SOC) manager based in Las Vegas, NV, has been named an Advisory Board Member for the University of Las Vegas (UNLV) Lee Business School. In this role, and as the Chair for the next advisory board meeting, Wayne will be involved in building UNLV’s new Cybersecurity program, an undergraduate degree for which UNLV recently received accreditation. Key to its success will be heavy involvement of cybersecurity professionals, government personnel, and businesses.

“Being in on the ground level and assisting to build and maintain a pipeline of talent to fill the plethora of cyber openings available now and in the foreseeable future is very important to me,” Wayne commented. “I became involved in this kind of work while in Bossier City, LA. I was on the CIS and Cybersecurity Advisory Boards for LA Tech, LSUS, Bossier Parish Community College, and Northwestern University. I assisted in redefining class curriculums and programs to be more in line with what businesses need from newly graduated candidates. It was an extremely rewarding experience and I look forward to my involvement in this capacity with UNLV as well as working with other local high school and college cyber programs.”

With a large presence in the Las Vegas area, Criterion has been active in local cyber security organizations like the Southern Nevada Cybersecurity Alliance (SNCA). We are working hard to help build a center of excellence and talent pool for cyber security in the region, which will benefit everyone involved!
