Criterion Systems provides valuable support to the U.S. Department of Labor’s (DOL) IT Systems Engineering and Integration Support Program for the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The DOL prepares the American workforce for new and better jobs, and ensures the adequacy of America’s workplaces. We seek candidates that provide high operational quality, knowledge of cloud services, and value to assist with data center consolidation and advance the DOL Mission.


We are on the hunt for a talented Cloud Architect to support a recently awarded contract at the Department of Labor to develop the cloud architecture and position in cloud environments. You will play a strategic role in developing all cloud systems including the front-end platforms, servers, storage, and management networks.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cloud computing and technology systems, as well as experience designing and transferring applications to the cloud. You should have a positive attitude and excellent communication skills to effectively share your knowledge and act as a trusted adviser to key stakeholders.

Job Duties

  • Operate as a Lead for Criterion to ensure operations are running smoothly including: onsite guidance, direction, and delegation; implementing process improvements; and working with the Criterion hiring team to identify and hire best-fit talent. 
  • Under minimal guidance work with customers and end user groups to evaluate technical problems and applying advanced principles, theories, and concepts to a wide range of work in the areas of planning, deployment, operation and/or enhancement of advanced Information Technology systems.
  • Evaluate existing systems and/or user needs to analyze, design, recommend, and implement system changes.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge and insight, technical experience, and/or subject-matter expertise to help solve complex problems or in support of complex information systems development/support efforts.
  • Perform analyses of alternatives, develops recommendations, and briefs executive leadership on solutions that may have substantial impact on programs and activities.
  • Cultivate and grow future business development opportunities within the DOL and beyond by working closely with our Business Development team.
  • Create a well-informed cloud strategy and manage the adaption process.
  • Regularly evaluate cloud applications, hardware, and software.
  • Develop and organize cloud systems.
  • Work closely with IT security to monitor the company's cloud privacy.
  • Respond to technical issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Offer guidance in infrastructure movement techniques including bulk application transfers into the cloud.
  • Identify the top cloud architecture solutions to successfully meet the strategic needs of the company.
  • Support corporate level Program Reviews 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • 6 years' relevant experience.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud computing technologies and current computing trends.
  • Experience in both AWS and Azure Cloud services.
  • Experience guiding Federal agencies on how to migrate applications to Cloud.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated cloud reports to management and other IT development partners.
