We are looking for candidates to help deliver full lifecycle development and sustainment for the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) National Cybersecurity Protection System (NCPS). The NCPS assists more than 100 federal civilian government agencies with the protection of their networks against advanced cyber threats. Under this contract, you will support the government in the design, development, operations and maintenance services for the NCPS. Together we will build the mission critical cybersecurity solutions that will enable the timely dissemination of threat warnings and improve information sharing across DHS's stakeholder community.

The candidate will join a small, agile group of engineers focused on applying state of the art data science (DS), data engineering (DE), and artificial intelligence (AI) approaches to a variety of customer problems. Modern DS/DE/AI approaches are inherently interdisciplinary, integrating concepts from Computer Science, statistics, and math among other fields. Therefore, the candidate must have both technical depth in data engineering combined with interdisciplinary breadth to integrate concepts from other fields.
Criterion Systems is looking for data engineers who will be able to work with software development teams and data scientists to develop data pipeline architectures capable of handling complex data sets quickly and securely as well as to productize data science solutions. The ideal candidate will be able to advise product teams as the best practices in handling large and complex data sets and help data scientists convert proof of concept solutions into fast and efficient production-ready systems.

Typical tasks may include:

Work with product teams and data scientists to improve the efficiency and speed of computational models
Create and maintain data pipeline architectures to automate the processing of large and complex data sets
Transform complex analytical models into fast, scalable, and production-ready solutions
Stand-up and maintain and update data processing infrastructures
Work with product teams and data scientists to develop a wide variety of data products

Requirements:

  • 4 years of related experience
  • Highly proficient in SQL to include schema design,database definition, and advanced queries
  • Experience with MPP data architectures such as Kafka,Spark, or Hadoop
  • Experience with scripting languages for automating repetitive tasks
  • Experience building optimizing data pipelines, architectures, and data sets
  • Ability to and experience with creating automated data pipelines for complex systems
  • Extensive Linux server management background
  • Ability to work with product teams, data scientists, and other stakeholders as well as
  • Assist product teams with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure
  • Experience in managing a variety of Amazon Web Services products.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with the ability to present technical data and approaches to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience in working with NoSQL databases
  • Background designing and developing dashboards and other data products
  • U.S. Citizen and have the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Directly applicable experience and familiarity with the Air Force and or Air Operating Centers

Required Education (including Major):

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Math, or similar quantitative focused degree. Advanced degree preferred.
