Our staff provides cyber security support to the Department of Energy National Nuclear Security Administration.

The Cyber Security Strategic Planner will provide direct cyber security support to the NNSA Office of Defense Programs (NA-10), as an integrated team member with NA-10 teams. The primary function is to assist NA-10 with understanding and planning for the future cybersecurity environment and emerging threats. This includes envisioning the future state, the various IP and non-IP based cyber threats and the networks within which the various weapons programs execute their mission.
 
This integrated role requires day-to-day work with colleagues in NA-10, understanding their mission and the dynamics of policies, people, products, threats and technologies that impact execution of that mission. This includes an understanding of supply chain risk and threats. The Strategic Planner will provide analysis, analytic products, implementation and risk management plans, and recommendations to NA-10 personnel, while maintaining continual reach back to NA-IM (OCIO) to keep the NNSA CIO informed on NA-10 cybersecurity progress, enabling alignment between the two organizations. 

The Strategic Planner will also work closely with cybersecurity architects, engineers, managers and technical leaders as well as weapons system experts (design, maintenance, storage, etc) involved in the end-to-end lifecycle of the systems under the purview of NA-10. 

The Strategic Planner must be a leader in the field; must be able to write clearly and succinctly, and speak/present to a breadth of audiences including senior government executives. Candidate must be an innovator with the ability to envision alternative courses of action and steer groups to address those and develop plans for implementation including costs, risks, performance outcomes, schedules, etc. This position requires a PMP, PgMP or RMP (or similar) certification, and the proven ability to envision and articulate aspects of risk, risk management, and risk mitigation strategies in combatting current and future cybersecurity threats.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Math, Science, Information Technology or related engineering discipline.
  • Bachelor's Degree can be substituted by 4 years of work experience in computer and information technology related field. 
  • Active DOE Q or other agency TS Clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Ten (10) plus years of relevant experience
  • PMP, PgMP, RMP or similar certification
  • Citable risk management experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience supporting a DOE/NNSA environment
  • Master's Degree
  • CISSP
