Our expert-level staff analyze, create, implement, and support cutting edge technologies in support of the National Information Technology Center (NITC) for the United States Department of Agriculture. NITC provides critical IT infrastructure, data center services, and cloud hosting for vital federal government functions.  

Criterion Systems, Inc. is seeking a Master DevOps Engineer. The candidate will be part of the Enterprise Architecture Branch. You will support technical architectural support services to design and create hardware and software architectural and infrastructural designs and technology roadmaps for the customer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use DevOps methodology to automate software development, infrastructure deployment and continuous integration strategies.
  • Support the use of orchestration tools and platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker and OpenShift or equivalents.
  • Design and build IT solutions, implement reusable components, translate technical requirements, assist with all stages of test data, develop interfaces and perform code maintenance and updates.
  • Creation and maintenance of data center capacity management reporting and plans for Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service, and storage platforms.
  • Use of collaboration tools to capture documentation and design artifacts (i.e. Wiki, Git). Evaluate and create documentation, white papers, and presentations related to assigned research of new and emerging technologies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Experience working with API and ETL endpoints (e.g. REST, SOAP, XML, WSDL, JSON). Experience with automation/configuration management using either Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt Stack, or Terraform.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS/Azure is a plus).
  • A working understanding of code and script (bash, PHP, Python, Perl and/or Ruby). Experience with automation and deployment templates for relational and nosql databases such as, MSSQL, Mysql, MongoDB.
  • Working knowledge of containerization technology such as Docker and microservices. Experience developing reports and dashboards using tools like Cognos, PowerBI, Excel, PowerQuery.
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration.
  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience with one of the job-related skills. Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience providing high-level Systems Engineering or DevOps Engineering expertise to managers and technical staff.
  • U.S. Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or an active Green Card holder
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
